Working with the Community

An important part of the Art Station's mission is to work with local organizations to make art therapy available to different populations in the community and to adapt the practices of art therapy to serve a variety of needs. The Art Station staff is available to facilitate your groups in our facility or on-site with your organization. Here are some examples of our current and past collaborations.

Current Collaborations

FWISD Family Resource Centers - The Art Station has partnered with the Family Resource Centers to provide on-site art therapy services to FWISD families. Currently our art therapists are seeing clients one day a week at all four of the FRC locations. Click HERE for information about scheduling an appointment.

Cancer Care Services - The Art Station contracts with Cancer Care Services to design and facilitate group art therapy activities for participants of Cancer Care's annual Kamp Kaleidoscope and Harmony Retreat. Art Station staff also lead a cancer support group at Cancer Care Services on Mondays from 1:00 to 2:30pm. Click HERE for information or call Cancer Care Services at (817) 921-0653.

T.A. Sims Elementary School - the Art Station has partnered with Project Fort Worth Talks and T.A. Sims Elementary School to provide ongoing training to teachers on the use Art Journaling in the classroom.

Winfree Academy Charter Schools – The Art Station has been contracted by the Winfree Academy Charter Schools to create and deliver a creative arts program for all 6 of its campuses in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Cultural Center of the Americas – The Art Station has partnered with the Cultural Center of the Americas to provide art and art therapy to the juveniles detained at Tarrant County’s Lynn Ross Juvenile Detention Center.

Lake Worth ISD – The Art Station is working with LWISD to provide art therapy services to the students at its three elementary school campuses.

Green Oaks School – The Art Station has partnered with the Green Oaks School, a school specialized in working with Down Syndrome, to provide a bi-weekly art therapy group for its students.

Child Care Associates (Head Start) – The Art Station has contracted with the Head Start program to provide art therapy to students at several centers across the Fort Worth area.

Covenant Kids – The Art Station has contracted with Covenant Kids to provide art therapy to children in the foster care system in the Fort Worth area.

Life Point, Inc. - The Art Station has partnered to provide Life Point a weekly art therapy group for its young adults with autism.



Previous Collaborations

Lily B. Clayton Elementary School -In collaboration with the Parent Teacher Association, The Art Station developed and conducted an Expressive Arts Program for grades 1-3 at Lily B Clayton Elementary School during the 2005-2006 school year.

Lena Pope Home - Teens participating in Lena Pope Home's Camp Discovery attended a one-day workshop at the Art Station.

I Have A Dream Foundation - The Art Station designed and facilitated weekly art therapy activities for the I Have a Dream Foundation's Summer Program with Manuel Jara Elementary School students during the summers of 2005 and 2006.

First United Methodist Church - The Art Station contracted with First United Methodist Church to develop and train volunteers to conduct a children's art enrichment program exploring symbols and spirituality.

Cook Children's Medical Center - The Art Station has worked with Cook Children's Pediatric Oncology and Child Life to design and facilitate group art therapy activities for participants of their annual Family Retreat Weekend.

Down Syndrome Guild - The Art Station created a 6-week social skills curriculum for teen members of the Down Syndrome Guild.

Garden Terrace Alzheimer’s Center - The Art Station provided weekly art therapy to improve mental recall to the residents of Garden Terrace Center, all of whom suffer from various levels of dementia.
